Food processing leader leverages the AppExchange and AJAX toolkit to develop a single, central source for enterprise-wide visibility and information sharing

SAN FRANCISCO (July 11, 2006) – [NYSE: CRM], the technology and market leader in on-demand business services, today announced that Kerry Americas, one of the world’s leading food ingredient and flavor producers, has deployed Salesforce SFA and Service & Support. In addition, Kerry Americas has used’s AppExchange to successfully create and deploy an on-demand application for product development, replacing a client/server system built using Visual Basic 6.0. The custom solution integrates sales processes, customer information and product development, ensuring enterprise-wide visibility across all product divisions.

Kerry Americas is one of the 22,700 companies of all sizes, industries and geographies that comprised the customer base as of April 30, 2006. Revenue and subscribers will be recognized as the service is delivered.

A home-grown, proprietary application, coined CRISPI, was providing valuable project management functionality for Kerry Americas, but the company realized the system would require substantial development resources to support ongoing improvements and drive greater synergy between sales and product development. Kerry used the AppExchange and AJAX toolkit to replicate the CRISPI system as an on-demand application and easily integrated it with Salesforce SFA and Salesforce Service & Support. Building the new application and integrating it with the company’s ERP system took less than three weeks, and the company now has a single, central system for all its critical business data.

With CRISPI running on AppExchange, Kerry’s teams from multiple product lines around the world can plan, manage and gain visibility into the ingredient development projects at the core of the company’s business. More than 750 users across various business units use Salesforce and the new on-demand CRISPI system.

“AppExchange allowed us to rebuild our CRISPI application in a matter of weeks with full integration to all of our enterprise applications. We’ve been able to significantly reduce our development time and focus on business processes rather than the nuts and bolts of the technology,” said Dan Callahan, Kerry Americas’ IT director. “The Salesforce solution has provided on-demand access to business information, resulting in greater visibility into our product development activities and better collaboration across departments.”

Kerry Americas leveraged key features of the AppExchange platform, including the point and click AppExchange Builder tool to create new objects, forms and workflows for the CRISPI system, and the recently released AJAX Toolkit to simplify data entry for sales reps. Because the new CRISPI application runs on the AppExchange on-demand platform, it automatically shares the same data model, security system and user interface with the company’s other Salesforce applications, providing an integrated view of customer activity and immediate access to project activity for hundreds users around the globe.

“Using AppExchange, we’ve replaced man-years of programming with man-weeks of development; creating an application more quickly, easily deploying it enterprise-wide, and achieving greater adoption than was previously possible,” Callahan said. “The ability to create and deploy new custom applications on demand, with the speed and success the AppExchange platform provides, has both saved us time and reduced IT costs.”
